Indonesia U-17 national team successfully defeated China 1–0. Thanks to this result, Indonesia now have the same number of points as Japan in the 2026 AFC U-17 Asian Cup standings.
The match between Indonesia U-17 and China was held at Field A, King Abdullah Sports City Stars in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday (May 5, 2026). Coached by Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto, Indonesia U-17 secured a perfect start in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2026.
A flawless result was achieved by Indonesia U-17 in their opening Group B match, winning 1–0 against China. The winning goal came from substitute Keanu Sanjaya in the 87th minute.
**Keanu Sanjaya Seals Victory for Garuda Muda**
The goal started from a goal kick, with Keanu Sanjaya breaking free from China’s defenders. He then slotted the ball into the net to give Indonesia the lead.
Earlier, Indonesia had found the back of the net in the 68th minute following a long throw-in situation, but the goal was disallowed due to handball.
With this victory, Indonesia U-17 temporarily sit second in Group B of the 2026 AFC U-17 Asian Cup. They are just behind Japan, who defeated Qatar 3–1 in their opening match.
In their next Group B fixture, Indonesia U-17, under Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto, are scheduled to face Qatar on Saturday (May 9, 2026) at Field A, King Abdullah Sports City Stars in Jeddah.
