Major League Soccer has launched an official investigation into allegations that Inter Miami improperly cntacted Brazilian midfielder Casemiro during the transfer process. The review comes after the LA Galaxy filed a complaint, claiming Inter Miami approached the player before securing his Discovery Priority rights under MLS regulations. Although the league has confirmed the investigation, it will not provide additional details until the review has been completed.

The dispute centers on MLS Discovery Priority rules, which grant clubs exclusive negotiating rights for players placed on their discovery lists. Because the LA Galaxy held those rights for Casemiro, Inter Miami was required to negotiate with the California club before completing any deal. The two teams have since reached an agreement allowing the transfer to proceed, but the league's investigation into the alleged tampering will continue independently.

MLS regulations permit each club to maintain a limited discovery list, ensuring an orderly process for signing players from outside the league. If another club wishes to pursue a player already on a rival's list, it must compensate the club holding the discovery rights, which can then either accept the offer or make its own competitive proposal. The details of the agreement between Inter Miami and the Galaxy will remain confidential until the investigation concludes.

Following the settlement, Inter Miami officially signed Casemiro on a contract running through the 2027 MLS season, with an option to extend until 2029. The experienced Brazilian midfielder made it clear that Miami was always his preferred destination, citing both his family's connection to the city and the club's long-term sporting project.
